CLEAR-EO is a European research project. This website is maintained for informational and dissemination purposes.

What data we collect and why

Comments

This website does not currently have comments enabled. Should this feature be activated in future, the following would apply:

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. An anonymised string derived from your email address (a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once a comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly alongside your comment.

Contact forms and email collection

This website does not currently collect email addresses or operate any contact or subscription forms.

Media

If you upload images to the website (registered users only), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images published on the site.

Cookies

Visitor cookies

This website does not set cookies for general visitors browsing the site.

Should comment functionality be enabled in future, visitors who leave a comment may opt in to having their name, email address and website saved in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.

Functional cookies (registered users and administrators only)

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, several cookies are set to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days; screen options cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes all login cookies.

When editing or publishing content, an additional cookie is saved containing only the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or documents from third-party platforms. Embedded content behaves as if the visitor has directly visited the originating website. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content — including if you are logged into an account on that platform.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

If you request a password reset (registered users only), your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Visitor comments, if enabled, may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your data

Should comments be enabled, comments and their associated metadata are retained indefinitely to allow automatic recognition and approval of follow-up comments.

For registered users, personal information provided in user profiles is stored for as long as the account remains active. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your rights over your data

If you have a registered account on this site, or have left a comment, you may request an export of the personal data we hold about you. You may also request erasure of any personal data we hold, except where we are required to retain it for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

To exercise these rights, please contact the website administrators via the contact details provided on this website.
